AMFT141376, she/her
Hi, I’m Aundrea Ruppert, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to providing a warm, authentic, and humble therapeutic experience for each client. My approach is trauma-informed, pulling from a variety of trauma-focused modalities, including mindfulness skills, DBT, ACT, and EMDR. I work with clients in their processing of trauma, removing the shame attached to traumatic experiences, and assist them in reconstructing a meaningful narrative of their lives that reflect their personal goals and values, emotional growth, self-acceptance, and a balanced, healthy lifestyle. As a graduate of Fresno Pacific University with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, I am committed to working with both individuals and their families and establishing a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, confidentiality, and respect. My professional experience includes working with crisis intervention and working with individuals and families to address relationship conflicts, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Demographics of Clientele
I am committed to working with First Responders, Military, and Veterans, as well as their families. In addition to individual therapy, I am also committed to working with couples.
What Should Clients Know About Me?
When I was in the 6th grade, I wrote a letter to my local fire department. The September 11th attacks in New York had just happened, and I was deeply impacted by the bravery, heart, and sacrifice of the men and women who responded to the World Trade Center. I wanted to recognize and thank the fire department for their service in my letter and how inspiring they were to me. Not long after I posted my letter, the firehouse I wrote to surprised me by showing up to my class and presenting me with a fire helmet they’d all signed. They were my heroes, and I decided I wanted to follow in their footsteps and dedicate my life to being of service to others, too, on their darkest days. However, what 6th grade me wasn’t aware of at the time was that 9/11 for many first responders didn’t stop on September 12th; and continued to impact their psychological well-being long after that call and the many calls in their career that would follow. Ultimately, I found my calling in mental health care, working alongside law enforcement in the community to resolve crises. While working on calls with police officers and paramedics, I gained a new perspective on the demands of their jobs, the challenges they face in the community, the challenges in keeping their families together, the struggles with finding healthy coping skills against career burnout, and the inner psychological battles they don’t talk about. As a counselor, I am dedicated to continually building competency in networking with responders in the community, attending trainings on responder mental health care, and building resources to support the individual and their families. I believe in showing up for the ones who have shown up for us in the community and making sure our first responders are healthy, balanced individuals with tools to protect their hearts and minds so that they can be the best people for their families and the community they serve.
What Is the Typical Process of Working with Me?
Engaging in therapy is a personal and vulnerable experience, and it's essential that each client feels comfortable sharing both their joys and challenges. To begin establishing trust in the therapeutic relationship, I offer a complimentary initial 10-minute consultation to get to know you, discuss your needs, identify goals, and answer any questions you may have about treatment.
If you decide to continue therapy, we will collaboratively create treatment goals, schedule regular sessions that suit your availability, identify target concerns, and explore skills and necessary resources needed. After every few sessions, we will review treatment plans together, provide feedback, and celebrate progress. I look forward to walking alongside you in your mental health journey.
