What Should New Clients Know About Me?

New clients should know that I am committed to providing a compassionate and non-judgmental space for clients to process their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. My approach focuses on how as humans from the cradle to the grave have a fundamental need to be in relationship with others and it is sometimes those relationships that bring the most hurt and to therapy. Relationship have the potential to hurt, but also can heal when individuals feels seen, understood, heard, and feel like they can go to their person(s) for support. In therapy with we will explore the underlying attachment needs that each person brings with them to their relationships. I also incorporate a somatic approach to therapy by understanding how emotions are not only in the mind, but also are experienced in the body. I believe it is important for me to let clients know that thought I am a professional in mental and relational health, I am not the "expert" on clients lives therefore I do not provide advice nor will tell client what I think they should do.

What is the Typical Process of Working with Me?

I believe finding the right therapist is like dating. Sometimes you feel like you connect with the person and sometimes you don't, and that is perfectly okay. In order for us to see if there is a good therapeutic connection I offer a 15 minute free consultation. This can be done in-person, over the phone, or via telehealth. In this consultation we will discuss you needs, goals, and any questions you may have. I will also share about myself and how I work with clients. If we both decide to move forward, the first few sessions will focus on building rapport and trust in which will work collaboratively to identify your goals for therapy. We will meet weekly or bi-weekly depending on your needs where I will support you with education and tools to work toward your goals. I check in with my clients often to receive feedback and adjust accordingly.
